Installation on Ubuntu and Debian
Before you start
These instructions are for Ubuntu 20.04 and Debian Stable/Buster/10.9
- Enter ‘java -version’ in a terminal window.
- Any version 11 and above is good, and you can go straight to Installing Brainbuilder
Open your favorite command line terminal.
Refresh the package indexes:
sudo apt update
Install the package:
sudo apt install openjdk-11-jdk
Check again if you now have Java 11:
This should display something like
openjdk version "11.0.10" 2021-01-19
Anything that starts with “11” or higher is good.
sudo apt install avrdude
Check if avrdude has been installed correctly:
That should displays the help for avrdude.
Download the latest version of BrainBuilder from the BrainBuilder download page
Unzip the downloaded file to a directory of your choosing
In a terminal window, start run.sh
Depending on your preferences and window manager, create a shortcut or menu entry
- Connect your development board
- Continue to Quickstart
